Local notes and private spaces
Stickies is a desktop notes app. Newly created private spaces encrypt note content on your computer. A space password or recovery key unlocks that content. The space name is visible before unlocking; choose a name that does not reveal private information.
Older, unprotected profiles may contain readable notes and backups. Creating a private space does not automatically encrypt or remove older files. An unlocked app, a compromised computer, or someone who has your password can expose your notes.
Optional Google Drive access
If you connect Drive, Google handles sign-in in your browser. Stickies requests permission to see, edit, create, and delete only the Drive files used with this app (the drive.file permission), rather than unrestricted access to your Drive.
Stickies uses that access to create or open your chosen folder and store and sync the encrypted data for your space. It uses Google account and folder information to identify the connection. Authorization credentials are stored encrypted within the protected space. Google processes sign-in, API requests, and stored files under its own privacy policy, and can see service metadata such as account, file names, sizes, and transfer times.
The Google Drive integration does not send your note content or Google authorization credentials to a Stickies-operated sync server. Google account permission alone does not unlock a private space.
How Google data is used
Google user data is used to provide the Drive storage and sync features you choose. It is not sold, used for advertising, or used to train generalized AI models. Stickies does not transfer Google user data to third parties for their own independent purposes. Stickies’ use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your controls and deletion
You can pause sync or disconnect Google Drive in Settings. Disconnecting keeps your notes and existing Drive files. You can also revoke Stickies access in your Google account permissions. Delete cloud files in Drive if you want to remove those copies. Removing a space from this device removes its local copy; other devices, Drive files, and exported backups may retain copies.
Exported backups remain where you save them until you delete them. Keep passwords and recovery keys private. Losing both can make encrypted notes permanently inaccessible.
Website and optional services
This informational website does not offer a notes account or collect note content. Cloudflare, the website hosting provider, may process ordinary connection information, including IP addresses, for delivery and security. Any future optional server-based service will need its own clearly identified operator and applicable privacy terms.
